Genesis of Oxygen Generation
Like most inventions, Velox and Natrox had necessity as their birth mother! Our founder, Mel Vinton, had a favourite Auntie with a leg ulcer that just wouldn't heal.

After many enquiries Mel became interested in the role oxygen played in wounds that had an ischaemic component. His training as an R&D engineer and his inclination towards problem solving meant he set about designing a device that was portable and allowed oxygen to be delivered safely to the wound.

The Mk1 version was basically a small oxygen cylinder in a carry box, and it soon proved to have limitations.

A chance conversation in Mel’s local pub with Professor Derek Fray of Cambridge University revealed that a by product of the latest fuel cell technology was Oxygen molecules. This led to formal commercialisation discussions, and then collaboration with the University, to develop a miniature version of a fuel cell that had humidified oxygen as the end product.
